On a different mountain
The Castell thrones above the valley, directly adjacent to the Zuoz ski slopes, and has a beautiful view. Just below are cross-country ski trails in winter and the Zuoz-Madulain golf course in summer. Beyond that lies the Upper Engadine with all its attractive opportunities - from nature over culture to adventure. Alpine charm and cosmopolitan St.Moritz. |
| Zuoz, often called the Engadines most lovely and best-preserved village, is located at 1,716 meters above sea level on the Inn river valleys sunny south side. The stately impression made by this typical Engadine village with its imposing, palace-like houses is evidence of the leading political and cultural position held by Zuoz well into the nineteenth century. |
| The late Romanesque chapel San Bastiaun with its old fresques and modern windows by Zuoz artist Gian Casty and the small Gothic church Santa Catharina also contribute to the villages beauty. A visit to the Chesa Cafè the continents highest-altitude coffee roasters is an interesting experience. |
| Zuoz magnificent surroundings - untouched mountain landscapes and the broad Inn river valley - offer many options for outdoor activities: in the winter ski slopes, cross-country ski trails, natural-ice rinks for curling, winter hiking trails and snowshoeing routes and an indoor riding hall beckon; in the summer hiking trails, cycling routes, the inline skating path, the 18-hole golf course in Zuoz-Madulain by Canadian golf-architect Les Furber and the Swiss national park deligh. |
